Celtic Solstice finished top!

It's done! squeal! My first problem becomes... how do I get a picture of this beast??? I tried to lay it in my Daughters room... the quilt top is 114 x 114! The room is only 13 x 13 and that is without furniture in it!!! I have no walls in my house that are that... bare! LOL So these pictures are only about 1/4 of the quilt!
Long view quilt folded in half!
I hollered at yet another friend to help last night! I had 3 options for the inner border! I let her choose! I liked 2 of the 3 (the one was a white on white and I just think it was WAY to stark! But I had to get another opinion!) I love that 2 of my Besties are now represented in this quilt! If you didn't know it friends this is why I ask you these questions!
I LOVE the 54-40 block and how it gives an appearance of circles in the quilt!
Who am I kidding, I love everything about this quilt! The flaws and all! It is loud and crazy like me! It has 2 friends mingled into it! There is fabric in here from previous quilts! Fabric from my bloggy swaps! Oh, I forgot about fabric from a dear friend! She is the one who noticed it one morning and pointed it out! Yes the stars have been sitting around my house for a minute or two, A!! What more could I ask for???
Now my second conundrum how in the name of holly heck fire do I basted this behemoth??? LOL Even if I take my kitchen table out of my kitchen the floor is only 108 x 112! (I know Honeyman and I measured it this morning!) I will figure it out! I want to have this beast done by the end of the month!
Wish me luck!
See you soon!
Till then...

Celtic Solstice Diamonds!

Celtic Solstice Diamond Blocks
Squeal! I am DONE with blocks! I have a lot on my plate, so I'm pretty sure I won't have time today to get the blocks together, but Sunday is another story! I think a trip to the store for my borders is in order, unless I decide to piece them! I MIGHT do that! But not sure! Oh, I also have the outer triangles all together as well! (but of course I forgot to take a picture of them!) Wish me luck!

See you soon! till then...

Celtic Solstice 54-40

Does ANYTHING look as great as a stack of finished blocks? Oh, all right, I know a whole quilt would be better! But baby steps!! So, here they are!  Sixty 54-40 blocks!!
Waiting for their friends to join them!
I do hope I can get  the star blocks done today! I only need 17 of them! I can totally do that during nap time! In form the cold today! Looking for a high of 6, that is a GREAT day for sewing!

Celtic Solstice Part 3 & 5

Part 3 Pinwheels!
I'm sure many other sewed Sunday while watching the Super Bowl. I sat and sewed most of the day. I have to say I'm not a crazy football fan, but a good game is OK to watch... that was NOT a good game. I didn't really care who won, but man...
Part 5 split triangle unit
OK now to the post! LOL I have been plugging along on my Celtic Solstice! Part 3 & 5 are finished and NOW... the fun stuff!! I have to admit I have about half of the 54-40 blocks done because I was using them as leaders and enders.
Trays ready sorted!!
Now I have looked at what other people have done and i have to say I LOVE the 'accidental' star blocks!! So I have mine all ready to go! Set out on trays (lids) I need 60 of the 54-40 blocks, 17 of the 'accidental stars' and 44 of the squares (or are they diamonds??)  At any rate! I have my hands full! Come on nap time!!
Stay warm out there friends!
See you soon! Till then...
Quilt on!

Celtic Solstice Part 2

Small steps!!
It's about time! I tell you this step took me FOREVER!! I think part of it was my frustration. See, I'm no ta big fan of a wasteful block. Not to be rude, but this is kind of a wasteful block. I saved all my little cut offs triangles from the edges and YES I will find a way to use all of them, all 1,952 of them! They make 1 inch finished HST's! Am I a nut??? YUP! But I love the craziness! I guess if I use them as a leader end er project... 976 little squares will come along quickly right!!
I am about half way finished with steps 3 & 5 also. I had to twist it up and work on something else so I didn't lose my mind! I just love this quilt and can't wait!!
DONE!!!
OK Friends! I have some running and sewing in mind for today! Stay warm!
And Quilt on!!

Celtic Solstice Part 4

I love quilting. I after such a long vacation away it was wonderful to sit and relax with my stitchin! It was made even more special by my special visitor! OK I have to start with we don't really do much for New Years. Honeyman Had to work on New Years day so it was not going to be a late night... it was not a late night! We made it till 10:30! LOL Any way! I said I was not going ANYWHERE on New Years Day! (OK not true I said I had to make a quick trip to the fabric store and then I was going nowhere!) My Oldest and Bestest Friend in the whole wide world (I know I have mentioned her before) was in town and asked if she could pop over. I told her my plans and she said she was happy to chat as I did my thing! Well then! Company other than Netflix!!! I'm in! She came over I cut fabric for the next four steps of Celtic Solstice (because we were on vacation I was just a bit behind!!) I even put Bec to work! I decided that I had TONS of 4 inch squares so I would use those for my four patches in stead of cutting strips!!! I did not get any sewing done that day, but I got all but one of my cuts done! So this next week I am free to sew away without having to do cutting!!! Oh, did y'all want pics?? LOL Here are my Bazillion four patches!!

That's it for tonight! I go back to the real world in the morning! Wish me luck after 3 weeks off!!
See you soon friends!
Till then,
Quilt on!
