Postage Stamp |
The first one (Postage Stamp) is not in that great of shape! Many of the little squares have been replaced, but were NOT replace with cotton. Feels like a synthetic of some sort! It will take a little TLC to get this one back in shape! But can I tell you the back is PERFECT! It is the flipped over Bright Yellow (My guess is feed sack) and I LOVE it!! It is not 'quilted' only tied with fine purple thread... to the back side! Weird!!
HST |
The second one is probably in the best shape! The back is a fake out itty bitty triangle thing Heidi (aka Hagatha or the Troll guarding the bridge) has it flipped over on her side. This one is also tied and I think I might see if it is big enough to fit my bed! If so... I am SO putting it on there!!
Tumbler Blocks |
The third one, the tumbler, is in pretty good shape. It needs a new binding and I need to see if I can work the water stains out of it! (Can we say hello Biz and a special thank you to Mary for her leg work in this matter!! Thanks for your help!!)
So I will be pulling out the stops and working magic on this big bad (my guess is this one is a queen!)
My Dad says these were either made by his Mother (Flossie Festina Elizabeth Fettererer Iffland) or his Grandmother (who I only know by Grandma Cook LOL) But his grandmother has been gone since the early 50's and his Mother passed away soon after my Sister was born in '71!
OK Now we are still in a blog hop here!! What amazing Toppers we have seen so far! And... THERE ARE MORE!!!!
