When bowl hunting turns into fabric find!

2 3/8 yards Michael Miller 'Amped Up' for $1.20
So, is it just my house or do bowls go missing everywhere?? We have very limited cupboard space so I don't have a massive amount of dishes. It's just the four of us so why would we need more than a 10 piece place setting?? About two years ago we were down to two bowls! Because the kids are still kids I wasn't going to spend a lot on new dishes, and besides I only needed bowls! So, I purchased six bowls at a local salvation army!
Fast forward to this past weekend and someone (that would be me) dropped a bowl in the sink and managed to break two bowls! We are once again down to two bowls in the house!! So off to the Salvation Army I went AGAIN!
I did NOT find bowls and didn't have time to go to other stores... but what I did find I geeked out over all day long!!!
1 Yards Michael Miller 'Bite Me' for $.60

2 yards Amy Butler 'Love' for $.90

I found nine cuts of fabric! Good quality fabric!! A total of 12 3/4 yards and all together I paid $7.28!!

The Michael Miller fabrics and Amy Butler are unwashed! The other six have been washed and two are missing their selvages but the other four say Timeless Treasures! I have pressed and folded these gems and they are now in my stash! Oh, what will I do with them??

Plus all of these fabrics!!
I'm so happy that my hunt for bowls turned into fabric treasures! But now I have to go hunt down more bowls! I can't be with only two bowls for much longer!

I hope your finds turn into these most wonderful finds!

Frostbite Footrace 5K and race updates

My race results
So, here at Scott County Park they have a Frostbite Footrace 5K.  This year was the 34th annual running. Since the races are slim pickins this time of year we decided to run this one!! It was COLD!!! 17 degrees and 8 with wind chill!! I can't say that surprises me! I mean this is Illinois and it was January 16th! I can't say I had my BEST race, but we have not been able to run much since Thanksgiving!

I did however place!!! There were 7 ladies in my age category and I got second!! I am so proud of this medal! Even if it wasn't my best I have to say running when it is that cold outside is... and adventure!! We watched two people fall from ice spots! SO to say that I was watching every foot fall was putting it mildly! But all was well for Honeyman and myself!
2nd place!!

Oh, and it is official, we have signed up for a half marathon in Chicago June 5th and the Quad Cities Marathon (THE FULL MARATHON) September 25th!! We have all summer to train! I am just looking for the best I can do!! That's it! I can only be the best me I can be!! And I DO want to be the best me!! So, I wish me luck! And follow along with my progress!!

Thanks for listening and visiting friends!

Allietare ALMOST done!

Finished top (dog would not move!)
I have been busy at work! Busy at play! Busy with family!!
I have my top finished and SO CLOSE to all quilted! I have two more passes to finish up the quilting... and I need more thread! Story of my life!

Scrappy border!
I chose to use the yellow we already had cut to make the mustard border scrappy! I don't really use this colour so I figured since it was already cut I might as well use it! I love the scrappy!! And I had purchased this red fabric for next to nothing on clearance I love how it brought out the gold and the red! And as much as I do love a black border I just felt this worked best!

quilting
I do have to learn the art of less is more when it comes to the quilting!! (Actually I really have to get better with the pantos!) I tend to quilt fairly small and a LOT of quilting into a quilt! But darn it I just LOVE the texture!!!
I hope to get this finished up today so I can start the binding tomorrow!!

I am to late to link up with Bonnie but be sure to go to her site and check out all the other AMAZING quilts!!

Oh, and come back to see what else i have been working on!
